In Their Own Words
"Being a part of the school’s newspaper YIS Pulse was pivotal in helping me decide my undergraduate specialisation. The passion and dedication our mentors and fellow team members had to bring our quarterly journalistic work to life was a delight to participate in and also lead during my senior year. From brainstorming story ideas, writing the perfectly engaging articles, and figuring out ways to promote them, it’s safe to say it solidified my interest in media communication and marketing practices!"

"During my time at YIS, I was able to explore my interests through different classes and activities, while also learning from people both within and outside of the school community. This experience deepened my understanding of different cultures and helped me develop the ability to work together with individuals from all walks of life."

"Model UN at YIS aided me beyond high school. Aside from finding comfort in the discomfort of public speaking and competitive debate, the extracurricular activity provided me with unparalleled exposure to heavily prevalent topics and a certain caliber of thinking. Under Mr.Brink’s tutelage, I refined my ability to articulate complex ideas and flourish in high-pressure situations. Without the foundations of MUN at YIS, I would not have had the proper scaffolding for success in college and my career today."

"Our school’s culture shaped me to become a global citizen. Selected as a delegate for Harvard Model United Nations and developed global leadership at Columbia University. My 8th grade teacher, Mr. Scott Alan Miller, ingrained excellence as a habit. Former classmates and lifelong friends from YIS influenced me to become my best version. YIS’s academic curriculum sparked my lifelong curiosity for learning and my passion for creative expression. Team sports and week without walls trips gave me lasting memories to live a fulfilling life. I still dream about my youthful times at YIS!"

"Coming from state schools and ILBC, YIS was an essential stepping stone for me to prepare for my college education in the US. Having an excellent team of teachers from all over the world, it helped me reduce the culture shock when I was studying abroad."
